1. Raise or lower the bibb lever (it must be on the top or set on the heater’s side) to one cup of water will run out of the waste pipe. Be careful! The water will be hot.
2. Change the bibb if no water is discharged or if the bibb sprinkles when released.

Clean burner ports
- When:
each two years
- Why: a defective burner flame may cause that your water heater operates harder and slower.
How:
1. Press the pilot OFF button and cut off the gas supply to your heater.
2. Open the access pane to the burner.
3. Clean the burner ports with the help of soft brush. In case the ports are blocked, use a needle to unblock the waste.
4. Close the access pane, restore the gas supply and light the pilot again.

Maintaining Your Electric Water Heater

Partially drain water heater
- When: each six months
- Why: residue accumulation makes your water heater work louder, less effective and shorter-lived.
- How:
1. Cut off electricity at the central service pane. Make certain everybody knows not to switch the power back on your water heater when you work with it.
2. Shut off the water supply bibb at the top of the tank.
3. Be careful! The water will be hot, so take proper measures. Mount a hosepipe to the drain bibb at the bottom of the heater and get it outward, to the closest floor drain or into a bucket. In case your heater is equipped with a plastic drain, replace it with a sill cock bibb that is more long-lasting.
4. Let water come out till it flows clean. The amount may be different.
5. Close the drain bibb and open   the cold water supply bibb letting the tank to fill up.
6. Return power to the water heater at the central service pane.
